Holiday Cards

Hey Hey There,

BIG NEWS: I recently launched a line of customizable holiday cards! But I’m getting ahead of myself…

Every year I illustrate a holiday card of my little family (myself, my partner Beckman, and our daughter (cat), Dali). Did you know there are 14 holidays in December? YEP. Knowing that I’ve tried to make our cards centered on the overall vibe of winter rather than just one holiday in particular. Plus…I want them to include as much humor as possible. :)

The process started with purposefully bad photo manipulation (if you can even call it that, lol), for example:

A mix of photo manipulation and illustration of a tuxedo cat made to look like Krampus, carrying her humans in a basket with the text, "This holiday season terro has a new name...DALI KRAMPUS. She's got you meow".

I mean…

…the skill level is chef’s kiss, no?

Over time, I started to create more illustrated characters of my little unit:

Text "Happy Holidays" above two humans in over sized sweaters covering their faces with a tuxedo cat wearing an orange scarf.

Dang, we cute.

I made this card two years ago and I still fantasize about making that giant, fluffy green sweater for myself.

Anyhoo, I’d been toying with the idea of making holiday cards for others for years but wasn’t sure how to do it in a way that didn’t require me to invest in physical cards that may or may not end up sitting on a shelf in my apartment. Then it hit me…I can make downloadable cards!

I did a lot of research (thanks, Skillshare!) on how to make and distribute greeting cards that could be sold as downloadable files. At the end of the day, there are a bunch of ways to do it (listing on Etsy for example), but for now, I’ve decided to do it directly via an online form and my social media channels.

What the heck is a downloadable greeting card, you may wonder? Well, it means that you purchase a PDF of the design from me and then you have the option of either printing it at home or using an online service like Moo or VistaPrint to print in larger quantities. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

So! I’ve made six different designs, where the text (and some colors) can be customized, and are all available now as downloadable PDFs. Simply go to this Google Form, fill it out, submit payment ($8 per design), and then once payment has cleared and I customize it per your request, I email you the file. It’s so easy!

Here’s a little preview of the cards!

Is that a pigeon pulling a sled?

You bet your sweet bippy, it is.

Whoo, that was a lot of info, but you made it! High five! I hope you enjoyed this little personal history and are inspired to spread some joy this holiday season.

Later Gators,

Morgan
