Heroes & Heels

Description: Every year around Pride month, I’m reminded that some of my favorite icons and heroes, such as Marsha P. Johnson, Silvia Rivera, and recently Qween Jean all wore/wear fabulous, spiky, colorful, and fierce high heels (a skill I do not share, I end up looking like a baby deer, learning to walk for the first time, every time). This led me to realize that some of my other heroes, Dolly Parton, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and The Boulet Brothers for example all wear heels. And thus, this illustration of love and admiration was born.
